Sentiero del Contrabbando

This route has made history: on the Rhaetian side of Valtellina, in the middle of the beautiful vineyards and the numerous hamlets and villages, you can relive and cross the old smugglers' paths. Rich in history and testimonies, they have been used in the past by numerous smugglers who were forced to carry goods suitable for "smuggling" (especially coffee and processed tobacco) on their shoulders from one side of the border to the other. In this way, the survival of the economy of the Middle Valley was made possible and an attempt was made to stem the exodus of inhabitants to different parts of the world.
