Schneeschuhtour Um Su, Lumnezia

Lumbrein is a historic mountain village and is located on an offshore rock plateau at 1390 m above sea level. It is the starting point for the often used snowshoe tour on the Um Su.

A bend in the road below Lumbrein, in the Val da Mulin, the tour starts. The steepest meters come just at the beginning. After that, the tour climbs leisurely and leaves plenty of room for route choice. After the usual "jacket stop" in Plaun d'Urdien, you overcome evenly and steadily meter after meter of altitude. At 2100 meters you can cross to the small Maiensässhüttli and take a refreshment break. On the last 250 meters of altitude, the terrain remains similarly steep, but the ambience becomes more and more imposing. One peak after the other can be seen. The spacious and flat summit of Um Su is marked with a cairn.

If you don't make it to the summit, you can turn around earlier. The terrain offers rewarding variants. At the altitude of 2200 m.a.s.l. our variant is listed. If you want, you can cross to Staviala Vedra from around 2000 m above sea level and descend there on our route.

If you want to climb to the summit and make a round trip, take the way back via Sogn Andriu. Please be sure to observe the wildlife rest area and stay on the route.

Back in the valley, the hosts will be happy to spoil you with coffee and cake or even with a fine capuns.

Back in the village of Lumbrein, the Casa d'Angel, the cultural center of the municipality of Lumnezia, is worth a visit.

From S.Gion the trail leads about 1.5 km. along the main road back to Lumbrein (no snowshoe trail).
