Beschreibung

From the village of San Bernardino you reach the area of Acubona and continue towards Alpe Pian Doss. Just before the Alpe, on the left, starts the path that in approx. 2 hours takes you to Bocchetta de Curciusa. It is a route recommended for experienced hikers, especially with regard to the initial stretch that leads to the bocchetta de Curciusa 2420m, here the slope is quite significant and can involve some difficulties. From Bochetta de Curciusa, leaving behind the lake, you descend towards the valley reaching first Curciusa high and then Curciusa low, arriving after approx. 2h to Alp de Rog 1812m. From the Alpe the path runs mostly parallel to the river Areua, which descends into the valley and, leaving the valley, leads to approx. 1 h to the village of Nufenen 1569m. In Val Curciusa a reservoir was planned that was never built. The valley now belongs to the protected areas of the canton of Graubünden.

At Alpe de Rog the hike joins the path that comes from San Bernardino through the Strecc de Vignun. As an alternative you can choose this return route, although quite challenging as it involves the steep climb to Strecc de Vignun. A further alternative is to continue through the Areuapass, reach Alpe Tambo and then the village of Spluga.

Sicherheitshinweis

It is recommended to stock up on enough water for the hike. There is a fountain next to the Curciusa Refuge where you can refuel.
