Mädems Trail

The original area is an insider tip for nature lovers. The Alvier chain and the Churfirsten peaks appear on the horizon.From the Berghotel Schönhalden, the  trail leads leisurely uphill, across snow-covered meadows and through forests. Once you reach the top of the wall at the water reservoir, you can look out over the Sarganserland. Once you leave the forest, the wide, open moor and alpine landscape of Fulriet/Mädems opens up. Below the eastern foothills of the Guscha and the Wisswand you then trudge on with a slight incline. Once at the top, Alp Mädems Hintersäss appears in the background. To the left: the Pfufisegg; in safe conditions, a detour to the viewpoint is worthwhile. The trail descends to Alpgebäuden and turns around there. On the other side, you now walk to Alp Mädems Vorsäss and from there straight down towards Alp Schwarzenberg. A little above, the path branches off, crosses the Röllbach stream and returns very slightly uphill to the starting point.
