Beschreibung

History

The earliest news about the church is obtained by a consecration letter - noted during the visitation of 1643 - about the consecration of capellla et altare in Benig (Panix) in honorem St. Valentini on August 5, 1465. In 1522 another inauguration took place (also recorded in 1643).

specifications

The east-facing church consists of a rectangular nave and a choir closed on three sides. Above the ship is a stitch-arched plaster slat ceiling. In the south wall two unequal windows as in the choir; furthermore, an oculus with fish bubbles in the west wall.
The tower stands without bandage in front of the ship. Semicircular closed narrow windows, partially bricked. The dial dates from 1865. Tent roof made of stone slabs.
The sacristy: Was subsequently added to the end of the choir without a bandage.
Bells: "La nossa cumpagnia anno MDCCII". This sentence represents the oldest Rhaeto-Romanic bell inscription in Graubünden.
In the monastery of Disentis are the fragments of a wooden sculpture, probably the Mother of God.
