The parish church 'Maria Himmelfahrt' is located in the middle of the village and is open during the day.

Beschreibung

history

The church, which according to its foundation undoubtedly dates back to the earlier Middle Ages, first appears in documents in 1185. From the earlier, early medieval stock there are no recognizable components left, from the Romanesque probably the lower parts of the tower. In 1392, along with the whole village, the church burned down. Neuweihe 1397, nebst zwei Altären. In 1493 the church was destroyed again with a quarter of the village.In 1500 a letter of indulgence for the reconstruction was issued. 1504 Reconsecration with four altars.

The east-facing complex, consisting of a single-nave nave and a choir closed on three sides, was completed in 1504. It is covered with a star vault of two bays. In the north wall it has a Gothic chamfered arched door to the sacristy. In the south wall between the first and second window outlines of a Gothic pointed arch opening.

The tower stands in front of the western front, whose walls run to it. In the upper floor, which was added to the new building of 1504 with a slight cantilever, the sound windows open with blindly worked fishbladder tracery made of tuff. The finish is formed by curved gables and a strongly constricted Baroque dome from 17844.

The

altars: The high altar belongs to the Valais group according to its type. The former Gothic high altar is now located in St.Eusebius. The side altars of St. Sebastian and Rochus date from 1734.

In the north wall of

the choir is still the crenellation of the late Gothic wall tabernacle, around 1504. According to Urbarium, the pulpit was built in 1746. On the north wall of the choir stands a canopy stall, 1670. Above the gallery hangs a crucifix from the 17th century.

Late Gothic wooden sculptures: St. Peter and Paul 1486, St. Felix and Regula, 1500, St. Wolfgang, 1485. In the monastery museum Disentis there is an enthroned Mother of God.

Chalices: Late Gothic chalice, c. 1520, Baroque chalice, c. 1670-1680; Rococo chalice, around 1760.

Paraments: A casula of white silk damask with gold tendrils, colorful carnations and other flowers.

Bells: The inscriptions in Gothic late uncials.
