The Catholic chapel Sogn Antoni is privately owned by the Sgier family and is located in the village center on the lower village street next to the former school and community center. According to the inscription, the Baroque chapel was built in 1668 by Gion Sgier and is now owned by the Sgiers Family Foundation.
Beschreibung
Initially, the chapel had a bell with a diameter of 30 cm. In 1842, Franz Theus cast a bell with a diameter of 37 cm in Felsberg. The chapel has been renovated several times, including in 1940, 1984 and for the last time in 1996/1997.
The choir of the one-room chapel faces south-east, is slightly retracted, closed on three sides and raised by one step. The ceiling medallion depicts the coronation of The Mother of God Mary by the Holy Trinity. The altar structure is divided by four columns. These are smooth in the lower part, cannellated in the upper part. The capitals of the columns are connected on the outside by two beams, resulting in two outer and a slightly higher central niche. In each of the two outer niches there is a praying angel in a floor-length gold-colored dress with a white throw. In the higher, round-arched central niche, a wooden carved statuette of St. Anthony of Padua with the Child Jesus in his arms can be seen. This statuette is dated to the 19th century.
The ship has a barrel ceiling with two lateral stitch caps and a circumferential profiled stucco cornice. Above the door is a large bezel with pale honeycomb glass and below it is the inscription "GION SGIER 1668" In two ceiling medallions are the pictures of the Holy Family with John the Baptist depicted as a boy and Evangelist John on the one hand and on the other hand the four Stll. Virgins Catherine, Agnes, Barbara and Agatha depicted with their attributes. The right window contains a stained glass with the coat of arms of the Sgier family.
The outer walls of the chapel are structured with four corner lises. The two-winged, carved door is flanked by two niches painted with images of St. Anthony of Padua and St. Francis. The steep gable roof is rolled over the choir and covered with tin sheets. Above the choir stands on four posts the roof rider with a hexagonal pointed helmet. In it hang the hand-drawn bells.
