Gebiet Chrüzbachtobel

At Vättis, the crystalline rocks of the basement (Aar massif) were bulged. In the area of the dome, glaciers and streams have created the valley, exposing the bedrock in a "geological window". The oldest rocks in the region are covered by a complete strata profile from the Triassic to the Tertiary period. At 2427 m above sea level lies the Dragon Hole, where more than 53000-year-old cave bear bones and fire remains have been excavated.
