The Protestant church is located in Pitasch.

Beschreibung

The church is closed, but it is possible to pick up the key from Mrs. Rita Cavizel. Please announce yourself in advance by calling 076 445 70 71. The address is: Miezvitg 96 in 7111 Pitasch.

History

The church of Pitash was founded between about 840 and 960, because it does not yet appear in the Carolingian Urbar. In 960, however, it appears as a royal church and is transferred by Otto I, together with the Rieiner Church, to the Bishop of Chur in exchange. We learn of the patronage of St. Martin in 1487. The present collection is essentially a work of the 12th century.

Specifications

The north-facing, Romanesque complex consists of a rectangular nave and a semicircular, vaulted apse. It is the only Romanesque apse structure with columns in our area, built around the middle of the 12th century.
The tower stands on the western front; it does not date from the Romanesque period, is probably even after the Middle Ages, because in the attic of the nave you can still see the old belfry built into the west gable.

Murals

During renovation work in 1921, paintings came to light, which were painted over again. They represent the twelve apostles.

Equipment

Massive baptismal font from the 15th century, polygonal pulpit from 1686.
Communion utensils: zinc goblet and hexagonal screw jug.
Bells from 1764 and 1861, with inscriptions.
