Three-day hut trek from Pranzaira to Maloja. Overnight stay in the Albigna and Forno huts.
Details
Beschreibung
On the short first day, the route leads to the Albignas reservoir (which could also be reached by cable car) to the Albigna hut. The next morning we go with a great view on a challenging, white-blue path over the Pass da Casnil Sud down into the Forno Valley and on the other side straight back up to the Forno hut. The third day leads along the panoramic path to Lake Cavloc and on to Maloja...
Geheimtipp
During the season, it is recommended to book Forno and Albigna huts in advance.
Sicherheitshinweis
Trail suitable for experienced hikers without fear of heights (crossing Passo da Casnil is blue and white).
The belays and chains along the way are installed at the beginning of each summer. Find out in advance from the huts whether the path is already accessible. An ascent without mounted chains is strongly discouraged!
Ausrüstung
Mountain boots, packed lunch for two days, inner sleeping bag
Wegbeschreibung
Day 1
From the valley station of the cable car, a beautiful, steep path leads up the western edge of the wild Albig Valley. If you are lucky, you can observe bearded vultures, which often circle in this area. The path leads past the imposing gorge at Sasc Prümavaira and then runs flat towards the Albigna dam.
Once you have crossed the dam wall, you can reach the Capanna da l'Albigna via the varied mountain hiking trail high above the lake.
Day 2
The blue-and-white marked hiking trail leads up, past the small lakes and over a striking rocky ridge to the Casnil Sud pass at 2940 m. A spot between the small lakes and the Casnil pass requires some caution, but is equipped with stops and kick bars.
From the Casnil Sud pass you can enjoy a magnificent view and look directly at the impressive north face of the Cima dal Cantun. If you're lucky, you can even spot ibex.
From the pass it goes over loose gravel (early in summer still snow-covered; possibly take ice axes with you) down into a wide scree basin. At the end of it, the path turns left and you soon reach the passage under the ridge foothills of the Piz Casnil Ostgrat, which is secured with chains and iron steps. Good surefootedness is required here. Less experienced people can use a climbing harness with via ferrata set for additional safety.
Over rock slabs, the path continues down into the Forno Valley.
After crossing the small bridge, the final ascent to Capanna del Forno begins. At first, the path leads relatively flat up the Forno Valley to the south before climbing up the marginal moraine in steep serpentines to reach the longed-for destination, the Forno Hut.
Day 3
The panorama trail has its name rightly: it offers the most beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and leads past several enchanting mountain lakes, in whose water the nearby mountain peaks are reflected.
It traverses the entire mountain flank to below the Pizzi dei Rossi and shines with low and views of Val Forno and the opposite side of the valley, but also requires caution against steep old snow fields in early summer.
Over the western flank of the Pizzi dei Rossi, the path continues into Val Muretto, which flows further down into Val Forno. From here you can reach Lake Cavloc with the beautifully situated mountain restaurant Cavloc, which is open daily until about 4:30 p.m. in good weather. The further descent to Maloja takes place either directly via the farm road or via various smaller hiking trails.
